The president of the United States went on an unbelievable rant Tuesday morning in which he accused search engine giant Google of dictating search results in a manor that unfairly smears his reputation. Trump takes no personal credit for the devolution of his public persona, and at every turn, attacks the “fake news media” for painting a picture of him that simply isn’t true.
The sudden turn on the popular search engine came after the president apparently Googled his own name Tuesday morning, leading to a meltdown of Trump-like proportion. Donald said the following early this morning:
“Google search results for ‘Trump News’ shows only the viewing/reporting of Fake New Media. In other words, they have it RIGGED, for me & others, so that almost all stories & news is BAD. Fake CNN is prominent. Republican/Conservative & Fair Media is shut out.”
“Illegal? 96% of results on ‘Trump News’ are from National Left-Wing Media, very dangerous. Google & others are suppressing voices of Conservatives and hiding information and news that is good. They are controlling what we can & cannot see. This is a very serious situation-will be addressed!”
Now, Google has responded to Trump’s claims in a way that has White House heads spinning. Check out the amazing rebuff below:
“When users type queries into the Google Search bar, our goal is to make sure they receive the most relevant answers in a matter of seconds. Search is not used to set a political agenda and we don’t bias our results toward any political ideology. Every year, we issue hundreds of improvements to our algorithms to ensure they surface high-quality content in response to users’ queries. We continually work to improve Google Search and we never rank search results to manipulate political sentiment.”
Trump has a long history of making stuff up and attacking the media when they report on his massive mess-ups. This is not the problem of the media, however, it is a problem with the very nature of Trump’s presidency.
