The actor starred in KBS 2TV’s “Hwarang” that aired until the beginning of this year, played a lead role in KBS 2TV’s “Fight My Way,” and appeared in the film “Midnight Runners.” All three of these characters required Park Seo Joon to shoot many action scenes, which led to him being called an action star.
“I never thought I would be called an action star,” said Park Seo Joon. “I never imagined that I would do this many action [dramas/films]. I didn’t select these projects because I wanted to do action. I chose them because their scripts were good. I didn’t notice [that there were many action scenes] when I read the script, but when I watched it…”
Park Seo Joon revealed that he thought about taking a break from filming action projects for a while after “Midnight Runners,” but the opposite happened in reality. “In my next drama, I appeared as a fighter in ‘Fight My Way.’ I did think a lot about that [and how] I wouldn’t be able to sleep if we busily shoot the second half [of the drama]. Doing action [scenes] is really hard, but it was completed in the end,” he explained.
When the interviewer praised Park Seo Joon for his skills in executing difficult action moves and said he was talented at using his body, Park Seo Joon humbly responded, “I just think it’s a good thing that I’m not clumsy. I can’t do it perfectly like the stunt actors, but since the action director choreographed the moves according to my abilities, I think it came out well.”
The actor further shared that he went to action school to practice the moves he couldn’t do well, and he attributed some of the success to “Hwarang.” “There were many action scenes in that drama because I had to ride horses and wires. I think my fear of action scenes went away because I had lots of experience.”
